Calm After the Storm
A calm moment between back-to-back typhoons, Sept 2020.
Calm After the Storm
The typhoon certainly let us know it was here. It wasn’t the worst in history by any shot, but I can’t say I’ve seen, or for that matter heard, mother nature moving through like that.
Human history is full of storms. We’re going through quite a few right now, there’s no denying it.
The best we can do is not lose our cool. We need to love our families, friends and neighbors. We need to stand for what we believe, encourage what is good, and never compromise moral integrity.
The interesting thing about all storms is that they pass, eventually. Sometimes they just knock a few limbs down or ruin your plans for going to the beach. Other times they hurt. Sometimes they hurt a lot. Usually we know they’re coming in some way, and if we’re smart we prepare, keep our loved ones close, ride it out, and eventually come through on the other side.
The thing of it is though, there will be storms with which to contend for the rest of our earthly lives. That said, they pass through. How we prepare, endure, pick up the pieces, debrief it amongst ourselves, learn from it, and ultimately press forward toward a better time matters.
There’s no doubt that a strong foundation is necessary for surviving the onslaught. The Bible tells us it is better to build on rock than sand. Rocks stand the test of time, sand washes and blows away with changing tides and winds.
This too shall pass. Maintain hope. I’ll see you on the other side.
